[Ausloco] Alcos - not dead yet !
Hello all,
The last 18 hours have been good watching for fans of
Goodwin-Alco motive power on the Metro goods line in Sydney. At 2020 last
night (23/6), 442S1/442S3 were noted braking their up container train to
a halt at the approach to the Botany line flyover at Meeks Road
Marrickville. Today, 8035 was sighted at Canterbury with another
trainload of containers on the up goods line at 1240, while at 1425, lone
4486 (#2 end leading) was in the lead of a short LVRF freight of
containers and empty scrap steel pallets. While Clyde-GM's and Goninan-GE
units are still predominant, you never know when an Alco will brighten up
your day. Hope this is useful
