[Ausloco] ABT WILDERNESS RAILWAY
At last, in Queenstown, Tassie, we have working locos again.
Today, as the development of the ABT Wilderness Railway progresses, our
first locos arrived by truck.
The following locos are now resident in Queenstown:
"Klondyke" - Perry 0-4-2 Tank Loco (Oil burner) on loan from Geelong Steam
Preservation Society
EBR #22 (Tasrail V22) - Drewry 0-6-0 DH ex Mt Lyell Mining and Railway
Company
There was also a 4 wheel ballast wagon, and a"Fairmont" motor trolley
delivered. Whilst we haven't heard a steam loco whistle yet, the V class
horn sounds good echoing around the valley. Plans are to run the first
official train on Thursday.
Latest bit of news this am is that they put the Drewry in the dirt about 6pm
last night and damaged a hydraulic hose.
Finally, the trains are back in Queeny, as from 13 June 2000.
