The raised #2 end of the red GM is a safety cab structure similar to 
an anti rollover frame on a tractor.

It operated without this for many years.

There is also a live steam 2-8-2 CC17 loco at Currumbin. CC17 is not 
a misprint. The CC17 was a post war improvement to the C17 that was 
never built in 12 inch to the foot scale. Diesels were purchased 
instead. The CC17 must be at least nearly 30 years old.
