[Ausloco] ADMIN RE Sightings

With all the problems recently regarding the policy of sightings on Ausloco, l will endeavour to explain our logic behind our actions.

We have no problem with sigthings being posted so long as they aren't singular postings for indivdual movements that aren't out of the ordinary. If all people on the list sent in a posting with each train they saw (no matter how mundane it was) the list would be full of unwanted info, which is also impossible to digest.
We encourage postings such as what Danny was sending, as these give a complete picture of what can be seen at a specific location if you sit trackside for a few hours. Common movements when posted this way are of interest, where as if a person just sends a posting of 2 x 81's on a coal train at Penrith for example, this is of little use to anybody. If people sit trackside for a few hours and record the movements that were witnessed, we have no problems with these type of postings.

If someone posts something that people may not realise is out of the ordinary, could they please state this, there was a case some time ago when a contributor posted something, and he was then attacked on list about it, when the posting was actually something out of the ordinary, although most never realised this.

If anybody would like further clarification about this, could they please contact us at ausloco_admin@eudoramail.com
