[Ausloco] Northern Rivers Railroad (NRR) Activity

Hello all,

I have just returned from a weekend photographing NRR workings. Graham 
Cotterall, Steve Bromley and Russell Webb also came along for the trip.

We started yesterday morning with the Up RitzRail service (NL40) and took 
our first shot at Mooball at 10.09am - locomotives were 42107/42109 
(back-to-back). Four shots were obtained between this location and Lismore.

The return working (NL41), with 42109/42107 in the lead, departed Lismore at 
12.45pm and arrived back at Murwillumbah at 3.20pm - seven different 
locations were photographed on this down journey. Not a cloud was sighted 
all day.

This morning, we photographed 42103(green)/4852(FreightCorp blue) arriving 
at Lismore just after sunrise with the return freight working from 
Murwillumbah (No.6646 Freight). 42103 was No.2 end leading. Unfortunately a 
trough which was causing some high cloud to form robbed us of a few other 
shots.

I had a good look over 42206 in the roundhouse at Casino. This loco has been 
repainted in a similar scheme to the yellow/orange/blue 421's and the paint 
job is now complete. Essentially, if you were to transpose the paint on one 
of their 421's onto 42206, this is what it looks like. ie. there is more 
yellow/orange at one end of the loco than the other. All of the body panels 
have been repaired/replaced, and the loco is a real credit to those who have 
worked on it. It is expected that this loco will soon be trialled on soy 
bean traffic. Once it has proven to be reliable, it will work the RitzRail 
pass.

On the way back to Sydney this afternoon, we photographed 8046/8137 on the 
Up Tamworth Speedfreight (No.5126) just south of Currabubula. The 80 came 
off the train at Werris Creek. 8012/8032 were the Ardglen bankers today.

All-in-all a top trip!
