RE: [Ausloco] AWB Rail Freight
The operators of trains in Tasmania was the successful bidder for the job.
Apparently according the same report 4 locos and 44 wagons will be involved.
My assumption is that they will not actually be based anywhere fixed but
float round the states or in the start up phase concentrate on the areas of
the states where the greatest amount of grain is to reduce grower costs.
Tasmanian locos in NSW and Vic. I would like to see that!!

Subject: [Ausloco] AWB Rail Freight
The Australian Wheat Board (AWB) has announced that it would be operating
its own grain delivery train in order to increase freight efficiencies,
according to a report on ABC rural radio last Friday 2-6-00.
The train will compete against NSW and Victorian rail operators.
Does anyone know anything more about this?
Regards,
Brad
