[Ausloco] NJ class loco details

Hi

I just finished gluing together my N scale NJ loco body from a set of 
castings I've done and then I noticed  -isn't it always the way ?- that 
while earlier photos of these units indicate that the sloped area on the 
left side of the roof was plain, later photos show three portholes along 
this part of the roof on at least two units- NJs 2 and 4.  Does anyone know 
when these were installed and why ?
