I was fortunate enough to be able to record Lindsay's record breaking
run along the platform. Unfortunately I think Bevan may have missed
it, having set his camera up at a slightly different angle to mine.
We had a good day shooting some great footage of the train with the 42
in the lead, looking and sounding fantastic. There were a number of
things that we had to consider when planning our shots - patchy cloud
cover in the north, a pretty well complete cloud cover further south,
some patches of slow moving traffic moving down the highway from
Tamworth and a very heavy Highway Patrol coverage - but it was one of
those when the decisions we made about which shots to go for and which
to forego rather than risk missing others turned out to be pretty spot
on resulting in a collection of shots which is pretty hard to beat. A
somewhat better day than we had when covering the last run of the
422's on the Canberra Oil a couple of weeks ago.
However and undoubtedly the shot of the day was Lindsay's record
breaking effort along the platform - it was good to finish the day on
such a memorable note!! I'll have to see if I can talk Bevan into
including it a special commemorative Diesel Diaries tape.
