Evening All
At 1820 this evening as 4836 - 4814 were departing Tabbita, ( west of
Griffith )a possible electrical fault in the main electrical cabinet of
4836 brought the train to a stand 400 metres east of Tabbita, the train
was reversed back into Tabbita yard ( to lessen the chances of a grass
fire ) one of the Austrac drivers was able to shut the engine of 4836
down which lessened the clouds of smoke billowing from the engine area,
chemical extinguishers were used to quell the remaining fire, the train
was subsequently remarshalled, putting the dead engine in the shafts and
cutting off 5 trucks in order to bring the weight for the section down,
4814 eventually departed Tabbita at 2000, arriving Griffith 2045 where
EL 54 was placed onto the train for the run to Junee,
Yours,
Pete Kilburn, Junee
