Aus loco discussion mailing list
Over the weekend RSA replaced a set of points on the #2 Up just on the city
side of North Sydney station. This involved a lot of (relatively speaking)
ballast/spoil trains on the North Shore line - a line not noted for many
loco workings (Except for derailments).
I was out Saturday but when I got home at 11.30pm 8173/48123/48103 were on
the #2 down edging the last of a line of spoil wagons through the tunnel
from North Sydney. With the last wagon loaded, they headed north at about
11.40pm with their loading of spoil. I presume they were off to Chullora to
RSA's ballast recycling facility.
On Sunday 48153 and two other 48's (didn't get the #'s) pushed a rake of
ballast wagons on #2 down under Bank St bridge and through the tunnel to
North Sydney station. After depositing the load they quickly departed to the
north and it was all over by about 4pm.
O' for more track work!
Best regards,
Rob
