Alan,
does G527 still have that bad flat wheel on the no. 2 end bogie? It was
a shocker a few months ago when I was in Melb (THUMP! THUMP! THUMP!
along the Geelong line - I thought an R class was on the way). I would
hope they've fixed it by now.
Peter

Last nights' 9083 ex Melb arr Echuca OK @1910 hrs with G527 (again) +
X32. Load was 29 container flats - first 26 had two empty 20 foot
containers (for export bagged rice) each wagon (standard loading
arrangements) - 27th wagon had one 20 footer and the last two wagons
were devoid of containers. The first twenty one container flats stayed @
Echuca rice mill and the last eight proceeded to Deniliquin behind X32
at around 2020 hrs. X32 returned to Echuca L/E before midnight as usual
to stow and work todays Moulamein and Deni goods. Got the pattern? You
should all have it off pat by now!
9084, the return working to Melb. got away OK @ 2010 hrs with G527 +
X33. Good load - 13 vhgx hoppers behind the locos and approx.. 16 or 17
loaded container flats (standard two 20'containers of bagged export rice
per wagon) brought up the rear.
I understand that rice is FV's third biggest revenue earner. (Sorry, not
strictly loco-based)
