^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ all things generally did not go well (I suspect the
railway Gods have been angry for the past 24 hours or so!), after much
planning on the part of yours truly, things turned sour beginning with
failure of B61 at WMB off 8217 Friday afternoon, followed by precautionary
withdrawal of S300 (was showing some worrying symptoms on 8237), so:

Did happen. S311 covered for B61 on 8246 (hence was not on 9137). B61
went on the WMB goods 9320 to GEX, then to 9137.

sortof happened. The FV crew very cleverly left S302 over at the station
(in plat3), so the pass crew only had to walk over to it and drop it on to
lead - that would have been very good if things went to plan.
Unfortunately they didn't, S300 was dead leading T369+T385 ex-WMB on 8220
to GEX, where 300 and the T's were detached (so the FV crew had to come
back and retrieve them!), and S302 attached. S300 to Nth Geelong yard to
join B61 on 9137. T's over the pit, brought back to the station at around
12:00, and were then attached behind S302 on 8217.
So in the space of a couple of hours we went from all things going well, 4
loco's with one coming ex-shops and another to-shops as routine, to have
just the two big engines running the service and the other two defective,
having to cancel planned moves and re-plan at very short notive! Now I
know why old railwaymen have grey hair and high blood pressure!
So, I would suggest that 8246 Saturday afternoon with have one or two T's
(the load is 3 cars plus van).

It was at Geelong loco this morning (at 0800), gone by the time I went
home (1700).
Geelong is a *great* place for loco variety at the moment, there's heaps
running, all Victorian classes and several paint schemes.
Regards,
Craig.
