Re: 422 Class farewell
Aus loco discussion mailing list
It most certainly would! I had the pleasure to listen/watch two T classes
shunting at GNRS in north melbourne last night (T376 and T345 - long live
the flat-tops!) The sound of both 567's roaring away as they were notched
up would make any Alco run and hide for cover :-)
What i did notice however, was a generator strapped to the front of the
lead T, with a power cable going from it, into the drivers cab via the side
window. Does anyone know what this would be for? The two locos formed the
Flinders St viaduct work train however, so my only theory is it might be to
power the mini crane that is on one of the flat wagons. Only other theory
would be to power it's retrofitted airconditioner? any ideas?

Michael
