Re: Topics/Canterbury A.M. 6/1/00

Aus loco discussion mailing list

I would like to echo the sentiments of Steve Dalton and Darren Wood on
this one, although I have also been guilty of taking up valuable
bandwidth with some non-topical discourse.

This list thrives on the goodwill of all the subscribers, and the
willingness to pull one's own head in before an 'official warning'
arrives in your inbox, or worse still, in the public forum!. Please,
let's not forget that.

It is indeed unfortunate that events have transpired as they did. I hope
that everyone is mindful now of the consequences of going off topic.

Turning to matters locomotive, 8173/8136 were running light on the up
goods line through Canterbury at 7:43 a.m. , just as my train for work
pulled into the station. The 7:43 all stations from Canterbury to City
Circle via Town Hall paced the 81's all the way from Canterbury to Meeks
Road, where sadly, we parted company.
Going past the XPT centre, 'Countrylink' liveried 7301 was closing up to
XP2014, having been uncoupled from the the 'non-Sydney' end of an 7-car
XPT set, with XP 2007 on the 'Sydney end'. It was most likely the set off
the Up Melbourne XPT (arrive Central 6:45 a.m.
