Re: Echuca sighting

Aus loco discussion mailing list
Y157 is in Echuca yard at present (1450 hrs). Will probably return to Bendigo on 9084 tonight d/a. This class is a very rare visitor these days. Reminds me of the days when Y class were virtually the only class to operate over the river into NSW via the 'old' road/rail bridge... that is, until the then V/Line weighed some of its T class and found that they were not as heavy as first thought and promptly allowed the lighter T's to operate as well as the Y's over the 'old' bridge into NSW. The new bridge, opened in March 1988 or thereabouts can, of course, take any class of loco.
Y157 is usually seen this time of year (read grain season) operating out of Bendigo up the Echuca line to Goornong and Elmore on grain jobs (drop off empties - take loaded hoppers back to Bendigo). Rarely, if ever, does it venture to Echuca anymore.
X44 is back again, off 9083 last night - did the Moulamein NSW & return job at 0500 hrs this morning but no Deniliquin NSW job this afternoon.
Very disappointed in Mark Carters' decision...  I enjoyed his contribution. Why couldn't he do what I do... ignore their infantile 'banter' via the delete button!
