MS7 ran thru Bargo on the up last night (mon 3rd) @ 2350 as EL62/EL52 with
short train with only about 6 containers.
Bigdan advises that no SM7 is to run tonight (tues 4th), but 3MS7 is due
thru on the up tomorrow morning.
It will be interesting to see what motive power is on tomorrow morning's
train as 1873 & 4836 were both shut down @ Cooks River on New Years eve and
they have not run thru on the down as far as we know.
Could be that it will be solo 4814 or perhaps one or two other EL's which
could make tomorrow night's 4SM7 very interesting if it runs.
Does anybody know if 3MS7 is ex Melbourne of Junee? In regards to Silverton using parts from 8002 to restore 8043 to service, I
was told several months ago from a Freightcorp source that the engine from
8002 had been sold to go into a fishing boat in Qld.
Also, 8043 has a bit of a lean to one side something like the tower of Pisa,
as a result of a derailment out west several years ago and Freight Rail at
the time deemed it too costly to attempt to straighten the unit out for a
possible return to service. Maybe Silverton don't think it will be that
hard. Could be an interesting one to watch. Will keep an eye open for MS7 in the morning & post details.
regards Ivar
