The engines & cabs were removed and the short & long hoods joined as one 
piece & lowered  and were meant to operate between a pair of ALFs, taking 
power generated by the ALFs to power the traction motors on the BUs.
I'll bring along the article published in digest on Friday nite o.k. as it 
is late and I am having trouble thinking clearly. Thought you knew 
everything about trains.
