My thoughts go out to the crew of this
train. They were placed in a position that was not their choice and that
they had little control over. One I personally have been in (although not
a roll over fortunately) and from experience it is not pleasant.
Obviously the professional truck driver was
lucky to survive but one would have to seriously question his driving
skills.
Interesting to note that the newspaper article
was not overly accurate either in some aspects and just a little bit one sided
towards the truck driver! If the truckies are anything like the ones
here in NZ then I would guarantee he was not driving to the conditions in the
fog, this from my own personal observations.
In regards to who will end up paying does
Freight Australia end up covering the costs of level crossing smashes or do they
recover them from the fools that get in the way? They do here in New
Zealand I understand.
