Aus loco discussion mailing list
Hello,
I am posting this as my 'right of reply'.
I could begin by being sarcastic by stating that the fire damaged roadrailer
in SA could have been stopped earlier if a posting had been sent by an
observant trackside Auslocoer and read by the Auslocoer subsribed driver
using his 'Pocketmail'.
Or maybe Junee Peter would not have to apologise for battling to inform the
rest of us of coming train movements only to find that his postings have
gone who knows where. And remember that he is probably also using STD phone
rates. Not all of us live in/near a big city. Fortunately!
Or the travelling railfan driving hundreds of miles to Parkes to get 442s6
on the returning ACT ARHS Broken Hill tour might have second thoughts if he
knew that a F.C. 81 class would be up front!
But if you really knew me, the word 'sarcastic' would not be the first one
that comes to mind...
Plenty of other words would though! But you won't get any help from me!
But seriously, at no time was I aiming any of my frustrations at our
administrator Bob. I fully realise that his is a thankless task made
difficult by a problem completely out of his hands.
Hopefully these problems can be civilly 'talked over' unlike the apparent
happenings over in WA re their ARHS!
I have now loaded 'Global Freeway' which uses a 1300 number to connect.
Not only will this save me a heap of money, but I can now write longwinded
and meaningless messages to have posted on Ausloco!
Bye.
P.S. The 81 class on the special is a rumour I heard this arvo. It appears
that the 442s does not have a special radio (satellite?) for traversing one
of the track sections.
