Had a chance to observe the 49 class working on the
Cockatoo run on Sat 22.4.00 and Sun 23.4.00.
4918 worked a two car consist on Saturday. Only
about 50 passengers on board. Loco was "A" end leading towards Pt
Kembla.
4908 worked the run on Sunday because 4918 was low
on fuel. It was "A" end leading towards Robertson. The three car consist
was much better patronised.
It was great to hear the 49 class in action
again. The start from Robertson was reminiscent of the West in the good old
days.
Both locos will be repainted in the near future.
Some good photos can be obtained as the train goes at a leisurely
pace.
