Bits and pieces with Austrac.

Aus loco discussion mailing list

Hi there all, a few notes on Austrac operations yesterday.

MS7 arrived at Cooks River just after 1:30 pm with the three ELs as
posted previously. The train was a very large train that required a lot
of shunting to place the wagons in FCL siding. The train was 46 wagons
long with over 150 containers on board, and was due to a trial for a
shipping company. If successful, expect the Melbourne to Sydney train
run at this size every Wednesday, and possibly daily. It is believed
this particular trip saved a ship traveling from Melbourne to Brisbane
to stop at Sydney on it's way north.

The daily trip train from Yenorra to Patrick's terminal at Botany had
1873 for power and 18 trucks to Botany, and on its' return from Botany
at 1 pm, the loco failed climbing the grade just past the staff hut at
Cooks River. It was subsequently pushed into Cooks River yard. repairs
were made, but on a 2nd attempt at 6:30pm, the loco failed again in the
same spot departing Cooks. It is believed to be some sort of electrical
failure which was to be looked at today.

4814 and EL60 both No 2 end up were put onto this trip train departing
approx 7: 30 pm.
4836 was also in residence awaiting transfer to Chullora for repairs to
the electrical compartment.

As noted above, the Yenorra trip train runs to a time tabled slot of
08:42 ex Yenorra, due to arrive at Botany around 10 am and due to depart
approx 1pm and arrive back at Yenorra around the 3pm mark. It is
rostered for Monday to Friday and a 2nd trip occurs after dark.

I hope this helps
