Aus loco discussion mailing list
The opportunity to have a day off let me get out and chase some trains.
A visit to Casino and the NRR maintenance depot (old roundhouse) found 4856
with 2 NPRY's stabled along with tractor X117.
At 1010 the ex Brisbane XPT led by Federation style XP2001 and tailed by
XP2003 arrived at Casino station.
Following its departure I also departed to Grafton where I found NR104 and
NR10 at the head of a northbound train of 42 container flats, with only
about 3 or 4 empty slots, waiting in the yard. About 1130 the Sydney bound
XPT arrived ( I can't believe I beat it to Grafton even with roadworks and
not knowing my way around!) the NR's departed as soon as the XPT cleared
the line.
Only loco in Grafton yard was NRR 42105 stabled over the back.
Another look at the Grafton yard at 1400 found 8256 at the head (Sydney
end) of some NGGF's, some minutes later 4856 arrived with the 2 NPRY's seen
earlier in Casino and these were eventually shunted onto the Sydney end of
the NGGF's. 8256 then departed light engine presumably to collect some more
NGGF's from the South Grafton sugar facility. 4856 collected 42105 and then
was shutdown in the yard to await its early morning trip up the
Murwillumbah branch no doubt.
