ex West Rail D class to Tassie

Hi All

Just reading the latest Tranz Rail in house staff mag "EXpress" and it
features an article about the two ex West Rail D class locos being
overhauled for Tasrail.

It appears they will be ready to leave Wellington in June sometime.

It also appears that they will be fitted with English Electric traction
motors instead of the normal EMD ones.  This is definately something
different I would imagine!
Apparently this is to keep the cost down by drawing on the stocks of EE
parts.

It is the first time TRL have mixed components and they expect to do some
"tinkering" when completed.

D 1565 is almost completed and D 1564 is being worked on now.


ALSO I promised someone a copy of some EE stuff awhile back.  Can they
