Boarded the 'Sunlander' at RS with loco 3908 and cars
MBY1459-MPC-C1437-LAR1910-LAR1909-MAS1540-MAS1490-MAS1459-MAS1489-LDC1935-MC
D1515-MBS1479-MBS1929-LAL1877-LAL1880-MPC1529 departing at 0909

The power of these 39 class electrics is awesome as we roar through Central
and onwards to Bowen Hills. It is has been a long time since I have
travelled behind a electric locomotive (previously L classes in Gippsland)

Just past Gympie North we pass the up "Sunlander" with 3921 and 18 cars at
Harveys Sdg at 1257.

Numerous freights pass us heading to Brisbane and at Colton we cross the up
"Spirit of Capricorn" EMU set at 1433.

Gladstone is reached at 1834 and d/e 2482D is on long coal train and "on
shed" finds d/e 2481; 2137; 2488 and 1730 and electrics 3504; 3638; 3645 and
3663.

Rockhampton is reached after a very pleasant dinner in the LDC at 2016
departing at 2045.  3908 drops off and 1557-1769 elephant style attach for
the run to Cairns. Noted in the yard was 3920 + 3930 breaking up a freight
with DH.44 looking on. 3903 was shut down near the station. The next day's
"Spirit" was in the dock with EMD5151-EMM6151-EMM6152-EMD5152.

On departure the ride is noticeably different with the diesels on the point
and the trackwork is a little rougher in places. Time to hit the hay in the
sleeper after coffee and a port in the club car.
