Aus loco discussion mailing list
Hello,
3982 arrived at Junee at 3-00pm (15-00) from Grong Grong with X45/G542/533
and a block rake of 19 'Freight Australia' wagons.
Once the train had entered the yard, the locos were cut off.
The X was detached and the two G's were swapped (re smashed windscreen).
The previously stowed rake of 21 wagons were then added to the other 19.
The X then went up to 'loco' (ie the roundhouse).
At 4-25pm (16-25) 3982 departed for Pt Kembla with G542/533 leading 40
wagons.
Does anyone know the next movement for X45 as it has been suggested that it
will return to the 'log trains'?
Will the 40 wagons remain as one rake, or will it be broken in half?
Certain advantages such as one crew would see it stay together, but on the
other hand, may be a problem to refuge on short wheat sidings on the
branchlines. Perhaps a combination of both - ie detach some wagons on
several sidings, to be reassembled as one after loading.
Bye.
