Adelaide C Type 186

C 186 during routine shunting 186 basking in the afternoon sun

In the middle of 1968 a shack owner in St Kilda offered C Type No 173 to the Museum. It was deemed suitable and was transferred to the Museum site in December 1968. In July 1969 it was wheeled into the new shed area to await restoration.

The body of tram 186 was retrieved from the Woodlands Church of England Girls Grammar School at Glenelg in May 1983. Being in better condition it was decided to restore this car. Much of 173 was used in this restoration, which was completed by March 1989.

This car is used regularly in Operations all year round. When not in use it is on display in the South Tram Shed.
